Invisible light. It’s full of energy, it’s radioactive. I love the fact that at 720 nanometers this invisible light can become visible, slightly modified, and present a different outlook into things that we see every day and might take for granted. The soft “false color” glow that can be obtained from foliage and skin can be very flattering and serene. I’ve had to fight the urge to abuse IR photography and use it too much in my portfolio.
I like to do things with my photography that not many other people do. I like to find ways to stand out. But when it comes down to it, I just like to hear the click of the shutter and see what I get. Experimentation is key. Feel free to shoot any IR related questions my way. I’ll do what I can to answer them, but for now, here’s Mt Hood in July, with a twist of infrared and false coloring applied.

Things happen. Good things, bad things, some explained, some not. I’ve taken quite a hiatus away from my camera. Health got in the way. Relationship problems got in the way. Apathy got in the way. A lot of things got in the way but apathy was the main culprit. I’m working on getting myself back into the swing of things.
It’s hard. Finances being the main reason. I totaled my car, lost a job, and it has been a struggle to try and recover. I still have not fully recovered but I am going to not use that as a reason to get out there with the camera. I will be a little bit limited with where I can go but there is plenty to find in Portland. At least in the city. But I am a nature kid and I need to be exploring the mountains, the beaches, and anywhere green that I can exploit with capturing invisible light if I want.
Then of course, technical issues. I had a small photoblog set up with PixelPost, but apparently it didn’t like the fact that I had installed WordPress in the same database using proper table prefixes that would never cross paths. Rather than spend hours filing trouble tickets or hunting for fixes in the DB I figured I would dump everything and start fresh. So with that said, I’m starting fresh, but not starting fresh. I’m going to start posting images from my archives to get content caught up, BUT I will be getting out to exploit the Portland skyline very soon. There’s some places in Portland to explore and I’m going to be doing it ASAP.
Not only that, but I am really itching to get out the R72 and spring is upon us. I think it’s time for me to get my white glow goin on.
